11, Zoom Skybar – Anantara Sathorn
Zoom at Anantara is the latest establishment to join the heady heights of popular rooftop bars in Bangkok. With fantastic views from the 40th floor of the Anantara Sathorn Hotel, it offers a different perspective over the city, and covering the entirety of the roof, this open air bar and restaurant has plenty of spots to relax. The food served here is modern French with an Asian twist, as well as a light bites menu which goes well with their cocktails for those who are coming for pre-dinner drinks or late-night snacks.
12, Cielo Rooftop Skybar (formerly Zeppelin)
Cielo Rooftop Skybar (formerly Zeppelin) hits the right notes with a great view, affordable prices and plenty of front-row seats for the sunset. With so many rooftops in Bangkok, it’s important to stand out from the crowd, and although it has an out of the way location and an uninspiring entrance via an apartment building, it’s worth a trip to see the 180 degree cityscape from the 46th floor.
13, Distil Rooftop Bar – lebua at State Tower
Distil, the second rooftop bar located on top of the famous lebua tower, is a cocktail bar and lounge marrying the most innovative drinks in Bangkok with a seriously awe-inspiring view from the 64th floor of lebua Hotel. Comprised of an indoor seating area of comfy sofas, a circular bar, and an outdoor cigar terrace, this is a sophisticated place where guests can expect to sample some finer rarities that few other bars in Bangkok can boast: exclusive wines, cigars, rare whiskies, and resident DJs playing jazzy lounge house.
14, Speakeasy – Hotel Muse
The Speakeasy Hotel Muse takes you back to the 1920’s Prohibition era when illicit liquor was rolled in the back door by mobsters in Hench coats. Thankfully, you won’t be breaking any laws at this speakeasy, but authentic touches like a bath full of cocktails in jam jars and cool jazz playing in the background keep the vibe unique and funky. With great views over Sukhumvit and towards Sathorn, this rooftop is more unusual than most, but this isn’t just a skyline; the classic vintage cocktails are just as important as the view.
15, Long Table
Long Table is not quite sky scraping, but what it lacks in stature it makes up for in every other area by serving Thai food that tastes delicious and looks amazing, cocktails that err on the right side of sweet and a view that makes you forget that this isn’t a rooftop. In fact, after an evening spent watching the sunset with a Bangkok Cosmopolitan in hand followed by a three-course meal enjoyed lounging in one of Long Table’s cosy booths, I can honestly say there is no cooler sky bar in the city.
16, Bluesky – Centara Grand Lad Prao
Finally a rooftop bar that stands out from the crowd – in terms of the location and view. Set on the 24th floor of the Centara Grand Hotel, Blue Sky offers a lofty vantage over Chatuchak and Lad Prao. From here, you can see the entire downtown Bangkok in one frame. The cocktail list highlights both the classics and signature creations. There’s also a restaurant serving French-inspired contemporary cuisine.
17, L’Appart – Sofitel Sukhumvit Hotel
L’Appart is a French restaurant with perhaps the greatest concept design Bangkok has to offer. Styled as a high-society Parisian apartment from the turn of the 19th Century, diners can choose to eat in the living room, library, rooftop terrace or even in the kitchen. The apartment style exudes luxury living and is the perfect mix of ambiance, originality and world-class French cuisine. Located on the 32nd floor of Sofitel Sukhumvit Hotel it is a short walk from either Asok or Nana BTS Station.
18, Scarlett Wine Bar and Restaurant
Scarlett Wine Bar on the 37th floor of the Pullman Hotel Silom serves great cuisine with superb views of Bangkok sea of skyscrappers. From the moment you enter the vast restaurant you are instantly immersed in a warm atmosphere, and the tension of the outside world fades away. Occupying almost an entire floor, the dining room is cleverly designed to create islands of lights, making the place cozy without the need for walls or partitions.
19, 342 Bar – Baan Wanglang
This cute al fresco rooftop bar sits on top of Baan Wanglang Hotel on the Thonburi side of the river. Although you’ll have to negotiate the ferry crossing to Wanglang pier whilst using your best map-reading skills to find the place, the views from the modest fifth floor are quite superb. It’s small, yet its semi-hidden location means it doesn’t get too packed, so you can enjoy the views across the water to the Grand Palace and Wat Arun in peace. There’s also a good range of signature cocktails and bar snacks that won’t give you a heart attack when the bill arrives.
20, The Rooftop Bar – Baiyoke Sky Hotel
The highest rooftop bar in Bangkok, The Rooftop Bar is on the 83rd floor of Baiyoke Sky Hotel in Pratunam. Expect magnificent views, dizzying heights but an aging attraction, so grab a cocktail from the bar and head up a level to the revolving observation deck and watch the dramas unfold down below.
