In Hanoi, Sai gon, Danang or anywhere in Vietnam tourist spots, coffee was becoming an integral part in each one life, although it is put on anywhere, it make me feel calm and relaxing. 39 Nguyen Huu Huan Street , Hoan Kiem – Hanoi
If you want to try a really special coffee of Hanoi, just go to Giang Coffee. The typical feature of this coffee shop is it was founded in 1946 by a chef in French Metropole hotel. It’s such a small alley at the front side and you go inside two floor house with natural air.
Giang Cafe is a small alley at the front side and you go inside two floor house with natural air that offers egg coffee. Let me repeat that, EEG coffee !These taste are extremely good and special than many coffee shops in Hanoi. It’s like tiramisu in a cup! Don’t be thrown by this, it’s more like a custardy cream with coffee. This was definitely a fantastic coffee experience in HaNoi!
The atmosphere is old and quaint, very Vietnamese. Great social atmosphere, ended up chatting with lots of foreigners. Service is courteous, prompt and accurate.
Popular with locals and tourists alike (and certainly Vietnam tour guide), they found the best time to visit is in the mornings. The egg coffee itself was lovely and worth a taste.
13 Dinh Tien Hoang, Hoan Kiem, Hanoi
It’s local in a very hidden unique spot in Hanoi to enjoy a high quality egg coffee with surprisingly cheap price ( just only 17.000 dong)..
You need to walk in a small door, and go up to the second floor. The place has kept its original decor from 1919 and is known best for its egg coffee. This place is what defines hidden gem. Filled with pretty much only locals. Beautiful view over the lake. If you find it, you can congratulate yourself. Do yourself a favor and try and make your way here.
This place is a classic local no thrill coffee joint. It’s a bit dingy and nothing special to look at. Especially the incredible taste of Vietnamese egg coffee and it’s and the rustic cafe served very authentic egg coffee that was simply delicious.
The view here is really great in the morning, since it overlooks Hoan Kiem Lake, and you can see the locals going about their business at the lake. Be sure you know how to order coz the person doing the coffee is an old lady that doesn’t speak much of english -thats how authentic it is !
60 Nguyen Huu Huan, Old Quarter, Hanoi, Vietnam
It is a very small one room cafe, what attracted me to this place was the art. This place combines, coffee, art and a little bit of Vietnamese history. Was pleasantly surprised by the spaciousness and the very immaculate decor of old vietnamese paintings on the walls of the café. Most of these paintings are realistic in style, portraying the history of Hanoi and Vietnamese art, which was influenced by Western painting taught at the time at the Indochina Fine Arts School
Nguyen Lam started his coffee business in 1949. His website narrates that a lot of his patrons were artists and that as some of them could not pay for the coffee they consumed with cash, paid with art instead.
35A – Nguyen Huu Huan Street , Hoan Kiem – Hanoi
This is a great place to relax and have a coffee with condensed milk , especially famous with the Coconut Coffee and Yogurt Coffee . Service is friendly, funky décor from the Soviet era .The view from outside on the 2nd floor is great to observe and absorb the energy of the Old Quarters. While more expensive than other coffee shops in Hanoi, the atmosphere is really unique and well worth it.
14 Phan Huy Ich, Nguyen Trung Truc, Hanoi
With a nice setting of the old Vietnamese French style condo, this place is where you can find peace and also inspirations. Young artists bring their works here and we brought ourselves to admire them over some nice cocktails.
